i-Angel Sound version 1.3.2 is available at Apple Store. The new vesion fixed the iOS 11 issues.

i-Angel Sound version 1.2.2 is available at Apple Store. The new vesion added a few additional features, including 1) Allow the user to listen all sounds sequentially instead of one-by-one sound by clicking. 2) Allow the user to change the view (record page, main page, and setting) by finger swiping. 3) Optimize the selected image view in the module with images. 4) Allow the user to zoom out the choice buttons during testing. A new version of Digit Span Test has been uploaded to the AppleStore. The new version adds digits span test based on visual cue or auditory+visual cues.

i-Angel Sound version 1.2.1 has been uploaded to Apple Store. The new vesion added a few additional features, including speaking rate adjustment, etc. June 12, 2014 i-Angel Sound version 1.1.2 is available at Apple Store. The new vesion modifed the playback function in the program so the user can hear the sound even iphone is in silent mode. Also, the requred iOS version is changed to iOS 5 so the user can download the progam with the iPAD 1. The new version also added the tabular view of the training and testing data.

Update all the programs in the App Store. Two major changes have been incorporated. One modification is to change the sound playback function in the program so the user can hear the sound even iPhone is in silent/mute mode. The other modificaction is to add the tabular view of the training and testing data so the user can see the performance over time, especially with the training.

Upload the Mandarin Chinese i-Angel Sound for Children (天使语训儿童版 本) to AppStore. The training and testing modules are similar between the adult and children version except that the version used for children is using images instead of the texts in the training session.

Upload the i-Angel Sound Version 1.0.3 to AppStore. The latest version adds the Preview function so the user can preview the stimuli before the training. Preview function is also a good way to familarize the sounds, especially those unfamiliar sounds. Upload the Melodic Contour Identification Version 1.0.2 to AppStore. The latest version adds the multi-language support (English and Chinese).

Upload the Chinese version of i-Angel Sound to AppStore (天使语训). 天 使语训 is similar to i-Angel Sound except that all the sound materials used is spoken by Mandarin-speaking talkers. March 1, 2014 Inconvenient Solutions uploaded the first iOS program (Sound Explorer) to AppStore.

Preview Mode in i-Angel Sound

Preview mode is actually a pretty useful function for Sound learning, especially for unfamiliar sounds. Some studies showed that prevew alone is as effective as the targeted training with audio-visual feedback. The latest i-Angel Sound adds the preview mode so the user can listen through all the stimuli in each category before the training.

Filtering

When this protocol is enabled, the original signal will be bandpas filtered (300-3200 Hz with slope of 96 dB/octave) in real time. Such manipulation can be used to simulate the telephone speech, which the spectrum of the speech signal will be band- limited due to the transmission line. The speech recognition performance is generally poorer due to the loss of high frequency information. The targeted training in such bandlimited signal may help the listener to be familiar with such information and pat more attention to some other spectral cues to improve the communicaiton ability during phone talk, such improving the quality of life for people with hearing aid or cochlear implants.
